Sorry i have come into this one rather late, but 1 question for Camel or a gun smith out there, if the original idea was followed but short chambering a 257AI reamer could you run into troubles with 308 parent brass being slightly too fat at the base to chamber?

I am assuming from the talk of a 6.5 reamer being used this would measure that case necks are going to be left thick and a building die could be needed to get the necks tightened in enough?

I guess to other possible options could be a Creedmoor case? and or a .25-284. At a rough think without checking measurements 308 brass could be mashed with a cut of 308 or 7-08 die to push the shoulder back far enough to chamber and fireform. The CM shoulder is a fair bit wider then a 308 case. Neck sizing could be done with a bushing die or Hornady make necking dies (which i love to bits) and the .25 cal neck die can handle shoulders up to 50-60'

One advance with a Creedmoor is its a shorter case so you ca have more room for the projectile poking out the top
