I have a couple of Anschutz 1532 .222 magazines that have a plastic base on them that is prone to breaking. Was thinking only a day or two ago about whether it would be worth getting an alloy replacement milled up, didn't think about 3D printing as an option.

Who made up you bullet pulling tongs?

So Bruce had a crack at making a replacement base for my .222 magazine - did a great job! Field tested on the weekend with flying colours.

G'Day all,
have a look at Eora 3d scanner, bolts onto your smart phone (any Apple or Samsung S6 or later) HiRes scans ideal for 3D printing has a Bluetooth turntable and can scan 1m x 1m area at 1m distance and you can stitch the scans together for a bigger model if required.
I need to upgrade my Samsung S5.....was supported for the Kickstarter funding but not for production units.

Good to see it in use.
Grey is ABS and black is Carbon Fibre. Made the spares trying out different fonts. Making the first is the hard part.
It was a good learning exercise. Currently trying to make a magazine for my Miroku MLR (don't need one as I have a spare ). Have a prototype single stack and working on a spring.

I've had a few printed things break with a bit of finger pressure, that shouldn't have, let alone the pressure of a fired cartridge. I would need a long piece of string.

It's more about someone wanting to make a political point. Send Sam Lee a sample of anything and she'll imply we are all making fully automatic nuclear rocket launchers to unleash upon LGBTIQABCD orphan panda bear cubs.

All of us here know you're making non-structural bits and pieces ... a far cry from what the media thinks everyone is doing with 3D printers.

I still don't understand how a bit of layered plastic can contain the interior ballistics of even a .22LR cartridge - given that most 3D printed stuff is relatively fragile and that by design the material melts at reasonably low temperatures.

A question for those who have abilities in these things, I would imagine that CNC type lathes and mills will have become more affordable. Are there light duty or hobby versions or are they still stupidly expensive?
