Trev, I did think of that, or something similar, but I think it will either be 25 Camel, or maybe the 25 AV Camel.Corny eh ??
Then I realised that the power will be lacking, so performance won't be as good as it could be, and it's not going to be to everybodies taste.
Perhaps calling it a 25 Corona is more appropriate?
Good points there Wayne, but Im not gunna name it after a bloody pommy.
and there is no way that Im gunna let Keith anywhere near it, so the Corona idea is out as well.

He called it the 25 Humdinger. I have a copy of that G&G out in the shed.mn1863 wrote:Camel
I think Briel Jackson did something similar to what you are describing with the 25 Souper ai idea, it was in the early issues of guns and game. Can't remember what he called it though said he got 25/06 performance from a short action rifle.

Yeah I remember the name now, I will just have to change things a teeny weeny bit, then exaggerate the performance figures so its a bit better than his.

Thanks, saved me searching through my magazines in the shed.Branxhunter wrote:He called it the 25 Humdinger. I have a copy of that G&G out in the shed.mn1863 wrote:Camel

Ha ha ha, sorry mate that's not my style, I have the occasional popped primer with some of my test loads, don't think that will ever happen with the pale loads that ADI put in their books.

So if I get this right, the first stages of forming brass for the 25 Camel are;Camel wrote:mick_762 wrote:Camel wrote:He called it the 25 Humdinger. I have a copy of that G&G out in the shed.

1. Place the deprimed cartridge onto a piece of 1/4" steel rod with the end of the rod turned flat. The rod is held vertically in a vice.
2. Hit the cartridge on the base with a 24oz hammer to tighten the primer pocket.
3. Proceed as normal........
Yeah?

Re: 25 Camel
G'day and thanks Marcus. Yeah I decided to go through my lot of G&G the other day to try and find the article, opened the very first edition and bingo, there it was.
I noticed he started using 243 brass and for some ungodly reason put a 45 degree shoulder on it
, that would make feeding a real issue.
Mine will be so much betterer than his as I wont be using 243 brass,
but 308, cause everyone knows that there is nothing good about 243, plus, I still have a half a bucket of ADI brass.
Then of course, the name will make mine so much cooler, efficient, accurate, easy to form, etc, etc

Re: 25 Camel
Would be interesting to see how R-17 would go in it - it seems to be the "go to" powder for many similar sized and not so similar cartridges.
