cZ455 Scope and Rings

Post by Greysa »

Hi guys, I just bought a CZ455 varmint in .17hmr and I would like to put a good quality scope and set of rings on it. Any suggestions?

For the mounts, you cant go past Lynx in both, low rings will take up to 50mm scope objective with a heavy barrel. No trouble what so ever with bolt handle clearance either. Scope, I would say Zeiss, Conquest 4 - 14 x 50 if you can find one, or one of the HD5 range. I am biased.

P.s. I may be able to help with bases and rings, what sized dovetail to these 455s have, 10mm ?

Hey Camel, I am pretty sure they are 11mm dovetail. I havent picked it up from the LGS as I am still waiting on my permit.

BKL rings are another good option for the CZ

Only problem is postage costs to get them sent to Oz.

Yeah, guess they are the same as all the CZ 452/3/5 then. Let me know what you decide about the bases and rings. :D

I would go with a side focus or AO if you go above 9X.

IMO a 4-12 or 4.5-14X40 is spot on for a hunting .17HMR.

The Lynx steel mounts are nice. Sportsmatch do rock solid alloy ones for 11mm also.

Picked the rifle up today. I am moving up to Qld at the end of march, so no scope or rings for it until I get sorted with the move.

Looks the goods mate, you wont be sorry with it. I had one of the CZ453 models, it liked Federal Premium 17gn plastic tip stuff, just my luck it was the most expensive of the locally available brands of ammo, but worth it.

Yeh i had a cz452 .22 that I sold to a mate for his missus, it is a nice rifle too. But it had to go to make room for this one.

I use Talley rings on both my CZ's and have only good things to say about them. Used Sportsmatch rings when I was running a 30mm tube on my CZ .17hmr and only have good things to say about them as well. As for scopes, what everyone else said. I currently use a Leupold VX2 with an AO, if I'd had more money at the time I would have invested in a scope with a side focus, AO's are a pain in the arse unless your shooting at paper IMO.

Cheers
