The heart of the new toy.

Post by WARDY91 »

So I had my new action turn up today with my dealer. Went round tonight to fit the trigger and have a squiz. I had to file down one of the roll pins as it hit on the hanger slot.

This is a beast of an action. 9 inches long, the loading port is over 3.5 inches. And its pretty weighty too. Mine will be here in a few months hopefully. At least with yours here mate I can get my stock shaped and inletted!

At this stage it's going to have my 22 dasher and a 6.5x47 switch barrel setup.

Im gunna laugh when we go to load dasher rounds in that massive port. Almost makes me want to look at a 280AI...

It will look odd having a behemoth of an action and running a puny little dasher case. There's always room in my safe for something else. The 280AI is an interesting option. Yeah I'll nice shiny ones for me.

That's one mean looking action.
Do like the "in the white" finish

Teepee I'm kind of undecided on that I may polish it yet I'll get the stock made and painted or hydro dipped then make my decision as to leave or polish.

Stainless there isn't much choice other than in the White. Bead blasted, factory sanded or polished is about it.

Wardy the bloke in bunno doesn't do a bad dip. I think I will get same pattern as my rest but metallic green base colour.

Cerakote, either blued or colour case hardened (just to upset people)?

Hydrodip camo?

Personally, leave it in the white. You can always change your mind later.

Yeah I was thinking carbon fibre hydro dip but then I can do the stock from fibreglass or laminate and overlay actual carbon fibre cloth over that and clear it. It will be stronger and make sure it's not overly heavy.

Very nice looking. Why such a big action for a dasher and 47L ?
