Sure is Keith's fault!

If you didn't start this forum I wouldn't be building a .20cal.

So thanks Keith.

Fuck, some leader you turned out to be. Get ya finger out.

Puddles, have I mentioned before, they are a top little action, after a bit of use it will be as smooth as a Sarko, if not smoother. don't be scared to play around with the trigger, they are amazing when you have adjusted them down nice and fine. Only fault I found was the bolt handle is a little short, but I got a couple of replacements from Adamjp, works brilliantly. 6 will fit in the magazine nicely as well. Well done. :D

Hi Puddles,

Excuse my ignorance, how ever what type of action and approximately what's it worth?
Also what are you looking at building barrel, stock etc?
And what do you think the total cost will be?

You have aroused my interest.

that would be a Zastava M85 methinks and he has ignored the current 20/222 fad to go with a Vartarg. the price of a new Zastava action often starts with a 5

Doesn't a 6 get you a complete rifle? I'd be that was inclined to have a stock to use, and a barrel up my sleeve.

It is an M85 and was $400 from QGE, I was leaning towards the VT but after some research, the cost of dies and the ease of forming brass it will be a .20-222. (Sorry Trevort)

I will save a bit more coin and order a lilja from Seddo in #5 profile, 1:12 twist and have not decided on length. I want to go 22 inch but it may be too short. Barrel will be about $540 plus postage.

Not to sure on the cost involved for a smith to plumb it up but I'm thinking between $300 a $500, maybe someone else could shed some light here.

Then I will wack it in a boyds for $150 delivered and then go shoot some shit!

Puddles, good choice on the barrel, I would be more inclined to go with 1 - 11 to make sure you can stabilise over 32gn projectiles, some 1-12 may, but then some may not. 24 inches would be a good compromise on length. Also Boyds stocks for the M85 action are a little short in the fore end, in my experience, they only do the Light sporter thumbhole at the moment, but who knows they may do one in a varmint configuration for you.

I was quoted $750 from trentech for a fitted maddco barrel. That is a little hazy though, when I get the bill I can tell you for sure..
