whats a Newsagency like to run anyway, i know its busy i can imagine but thats not what im asking.
Easy just let the wife do all the day to day stuff
Cheri had been working here part time for 4 years and a bit of relief work at other newsagencys so had the actual day to day running covered before we took over.
As for me well my entire sales experince amounted to a year or so working Saturdays in a hardware store and selling a bit of shooting gear from home. Big learning curve for me cash register isn't to hard being touch screen, lottery terminal is a bit more intimidating but thats why we have 50mil liability insurance
I'm still working maintenance at the local mill so doing 45hrs a week out there and then a couple more in the shop weekdays and weekends.
As for what it's like I am finding it quite enjoyable, being in a small country town you know most of the customers and if you don't you soon do. Like knackers all the visitors have nice things to say about the district and if things are a bit slow you can always have a chat.
Enjoying the challange of running it as well, like being able to decide what dirrection we are heading etc, plenty of oppertunity for diversification as well. Ask the same question in 5 years time and the answer might be different but at this stage we are both loving it.
