Anyone out there wish to share their pet 17rem loads? got some 25gr Hornady HP to reload with either BM2 or 2208. Will be for use on foxes. What are the thoughts on your 17??

Own and use two 17R's regulary, Tikka M55 and Remington 700. Lov'em

chop the barrel to 20 inches and they are fricking noisey. my tikka in 17 rem fouled too quick to be very field practical but loads it liked were 20gr vmax's with 23.5gr of 2206h and 25 gr hp's with 23gr of 2206h.

don't remember if i tried 2208 but found benchmark 2 a bit hot and inconsistant.

i would like to run a stainless barrel with it though but first will chamber the tikka in 17 fireball.

I must be lucky, as both my Tikka and Remmy can put 40-50 shots down before accuracy 'goes off'. From my experiance, keeping to the 3900-4000 fps range makes a world of differance with fouling. The Tikka expecially can retain very good accuracy at full throttle (4200 fps), but fouling increases noticably.

Run with the 2208 for a start, and use Rem 7 1/2 or CCI BR4 primers.

so anyone want to put up their pet loads for their 17 rem??? thanks in advance

For my .17 REM my fav load is 22.5grns of AR2206H, Hornady 25grn HP, CCI small primer and Remington brass, best group is just over half inch @100.

Tikka - 25gr v-max, 23.3gr AR2208, Rem 7 1/2 primer, Rem case, 2.270" OAL

Remington - 25gr v-max, 22.6gr AR2206H, CCI BR4 primer, Rem case, 2.230" OAL
