Best powders for the .222

Post by pete152 »

Hello,
What are the best powders to use in the .222REM for projectiles in 45 , 50 and 55 gr?
Mainly for rabbits and foxes at long distance.
Thanks,
Peter

Peter,
I had excellent results with 2207 behind the 40-52gn pills. The 55-60gn pills gave better performance with 2206. BM1 or BM2 would be worth trying if you want one powder to cover 40gn-55gn. I found Win 748 and Alliant Reloder 7 preformed well, but burned dirty and fouled the barrel faster. The 222, IMO, is not very fussy about its diet and will shoot well with most handloads.

Cheers
Whitty
