gday gents

Sometime back in the good'ol days when Ebay allowed gun related
products to be advertised e.g bullets, gunparts, cases etc etc,
I won an auction for 50 accelerator plastic sabots... just the empty sabots for use in the 30/06 but at the time i herd hornady had or was about to release a new varmint projectile, well that projectile is the V-max.
my question is has anybody here ever inserted projectiles into plastic sabots, the way it looks to me is that the projectiles are a pressure fit into the sabot ( to hard to do it by hand ) fear of damaging the V-max plastic tips has so far prevented me from inserting them.

Yeah Marco I've had a play with these things. I've never had a problem inserting projectiles in them. They have splits down the side which just open up when you push the pill in. I simply push the pill into the sabot then seat it in the case as you do any other projectile.
They work better with flat base pills as the boat tail jobs can cause the sabot to break on firing.
I've got velocities of just under 5000fps with 300winmag using 748 and 5150 fps in the 300RUM using 2206H.

Would be good if they manufactured a sabot for 17-22 or 6mm.

Imagine the velocities one could achieve through a swift, 22-250 or on a 6mm 284 case?

However, I think you may find that sabots are prohibited for use and possession in NSW.

did you know you can still buy remington accelerators but its a special order, its not stocked on the shelf anymore

the way i was told at the "horsley park gs" is that when you order
accelerators you basically show your licence and they take down the peticulars. its because of possible murders, if you think about it once the bullet is recovered by investigators the .224 bullet doesnt have rifling marks on it so therefore cant be traced! so easy
and when this senario occurs they look at any recent purchaces of accelerators.
