G'Day all,
I've just paid a deposit on a near mint 2nd hand LH 270 RemBDL and since it was years since I owned a 270W; I sold all my 270 reloading stuff last year and turfed my data (didn't have a rifle then did I! )

Anyway, my brother Rabbit Boy wants to drag me around the local hills to make me HTFU for sambar sooooo.........

I need some good loads/bullets for sambar in the 270W as well as some general do anything loads for everything else i.e. goats/pigs/fallow/reds etc

I have 2208(?)/2209/2213 and W-W LR primers.

suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Cheerio Ned

Hi Guys,

When I used to hunt with a 270W, I used the 140gr Sierra game king, 51gr 2209 with a Fed 210 primer. Don't recall anything EVER running away from that. Now I only long range bench rest it, so if I was looking for a load it would be 56gr 2213 behind a 135gr Sierra Match bullet. Would be a great long range load as I can put 5 in 2.5 inches as 600 yrds.
I would neck turn your cases, and play around with seating depths to find the best length, provided it worked through your magazine.

Good shooting

Jeff

G'Day all,
I guess I'm mainly after a sambar load specifically a suitable sambar bullet, the rest I can sort out myself

Kurcha, i always neck turn before resizing unless I need to alter the neck diameter first (i.e. expand 220 russian cases to 6mm or resize 6.5 to 6mm). essentially get the case neck to smaller than the neck turner expander size and expand to up to suit the turner's mandrel size and way you go.

JJ, this is a hunting rifle only so I'm looking for minute of goat/pig/deer.............but since it is a Rem, it may become a sleeved 500m fly rifle in the far distant future!
