Hey guys,
Just wanted to share;

A mate I met a the range a while ago, Paul, gave me some of his pet load today (well under maximum)
to see how they group with my rifle at 100 metres....

I just found MY new pet load;
155grn A-Max; 44grns AR2208; Federal Match primer; Remington brass.

Oh yeah, it was a FIVE SHOT group! I'm stoked!

What's more, the Mrs was present also, so it was easy to justify spending ALL THAT CASH on reloading equipment recently, hahahaha.

That looks the goods.
Was that the overall group size or does it need the projectile diameter subtracted.??

Yeah, gotta subtract the calibre (I make it .291 or just under 7.4mm)

The Rifle specs are;

Remington 700 Tactical
Leupold Mark4 4.5-14x50 (M1 turrets)
Seekins rings and bases

Good shooting mate

Is it a 308?

Sensational. You have to have respect for the larger calibers, especially the .308.

Have you experimented with any other powder or projectiles?

I sent some 150 grn Lapua's down the tube a few weeks ago, they have a ballistic co-efficiency of .508 whereas the A-max are .500.

I am using Vihta Vuori N 150 (45.5 grns) and am receiving some very consistent velocities (within 5 feet per second of each other and some very tight groups).

How did it perform at 200?

P.S Is that a smiley face on the inside of your rear scope cover?

Hey Sean,

Thanks, I was realy stoked with it.
Haven't done much else in experimenting, and these cartridges were given to me by a mate at the range.
They were literally the FIRST EVER reloads through my rifle!
I'm only just getting into reloading myself, so it's been a lot of research only at this point. Have only read a little about Vihta Vuori.

One of the reasons I was so amazed that the load just seemed to mate perfectly to my rifle.
Haven't had a chance to go beyond 100m with anything but factory stuff yet, but my range goes out to 500, so there might be a few more broken clay targets out on that back mound from now on,

Hey Spartan,

Thanks mate, glad you like it.
The 'spirit-level' is a U.S Optics anti-cant device.
It has a screw-on, screw-off cover, and it folds away when not in use.

I was a little hesitant when I first got this rifle, with regards to the Hogue Overmold stock.
They have some bad press about being flexible (which they are), but it's never been a problem for me.
Some people have complained that it effected the floating of the barrel.

Unless I put heaps of weight on it, it's fine.

For a general hunting type stock, I think it's awesome. Soft, comfortable, durable and quiet.

Having said that.........my McMillan A5 and Badger bottom metal arrives from the states in the next couple of weeks.
I certainly hope the accuracy doesn't go backwards after a six month wait and all that cash.....hahahahhaa
