Best group yet with the 25-06 and home rolled ammo

Post by Model70 »

Shot this five shot group today at Silverdale with the 25-06 using 56gn 2209 pushing a 75gn V Max out of a Rem. case with WLR primers, Im pleased to say the least!
Group measured 0.610" minus the .257 gave me 0.353"

nothing wrong with that group, would be nice to be sitting over a gully watching a mob of goats and knowing your rifle will shoot like that. Go get those big Varmints :rifle2:

Yep, its fast becoming my favourite! I got some hornady 117gn SST's that I swapped from Brad (I think  ) and scored a group of just on an inch straight off, so I bought a box from HPGS on the way home!

  Nah that'll do me I think! Getting the 250 re barrelled soon so they might get tighter!!
Why would the average punter need a custom when they shoot like this out of the box!

yes twas i !
and coincidently i was at the range today testing those 117gn SST's and am quite happy for an undeveloped test load.
this was my 25/06AI with AR2217 and cci magnum primers.

ill fiddle a little with it and the next group in the range which looked to be heaps better but i jagged one flyer
so ill try em both with a couple 5 shots for an honest evaluation. but cant wait to pop a porker ! :hunting:

Model 70,

Those 75 V maxs should be flying out around 3500 -3600 fps and they will make a mess of anything they hit. Dont be afraid to use them on pigs and goats either, they are emphatic killers.
Long live the Quarter Bore.

cheers
