Anyone loaded any of these using either 2208 or 2206H? Both Harveys manual and the ADI one seem to have conflicting data.

Using Lapua .223 Match case, CCI BR-4 primers, I am using 25.4 gr of 2208 behind the 69 gr SMK out of a Savage 16FSS 22 inch featherweight barrel. I use the rifle for hunting and F Class Standard...the best to date is on targets at 600 yards. I used the Thales ADI reloading data
http://www.adi-limited.com/handloaders-guide/index.asp
Hope this helps

I've used 24.5 2206H for the 69s in a .223, with good accuracy, although I favor Varget by a small margin. I don't know if you can get Varget there, so it's probably moot.

Glenn,
If you check the bottle of Varget you will see that it says "Made in Australia" - it is known as AR 2208 over here. Same stuff.

25.3 2206H
69MK's
Lapua cases
Seated to be very soft touch on lands.
Rifle: Remington LTR.
Accuracy, better than I can hold consistantly off bipods.
Cheers

I KNEW it (Varget) was made there, but I didn't know if it was SOLD there
and I especially didn't know the number assigned to it, as I have too damned many numbers clogging up my poor excuse for a brain anyhow
.
In any event, I have used several buckets of the stuff, and it is a VERY good powder, especially in .22/250 or with heavy bullets in .223. Come to think of it, all of my favorite rifle powders are made by ADI.

here is the link to the Thales (ADI) web site and it will give you all the info you need on their powders (AR2208 etc)

I appreciate that the answer to this question in part depends on barrel twists, however openly admitting a lack of expertise in reloading, I would have thought this to be at the very top of bullet weights for a .223?
Based on the ballistic work you would have done, what is the bullet drop at ,say. 250 and 300 metres.
Would have thought this bullet weight was getting near the stage where you would a , say, 75g Vax in a .243.

From a 100m zero I need
13clicks to 250m
20clicks to 310m
34clicks to 410m
51clicks to 510m.
This is using a 1/4MOA scope. This is the range chart I made last week. 69MK's, 25.3grains of 2206H, rifle LTR (20" barrel). It does fine to 500m odd, but can see that it was starting to struggle at 600m.
With a long barrel (28-30") a 223 can push the 80MK's to around the 2950fps by memory..... thats not bad!
