Just wondering if anyone swages there own projectiles and if it’s worth doing yourself!
I know it’s a broad question and with out taking into account how many pills I use;
Are they accurate?
Do you get consistent weight?
What sort of set up costs?
Are jackets and core lead easily available?
I am looking mainly for heavier cals eg .308 .375 .416 and .458
I have absolutely no exp with swaging but do cast pills and wont knock back any opinions
Thanks
John

Projectile making
1kshot,
If your thinking of making your own projectiles just for your own use the best way to go about it is to get some swagging dies from RCE or similar company. They have a website: http://www.rceco.com/
If you want to make quality projectiles for target work then be prepared to spend big dollars on dies and equipment.
As for getting materials you can source you lead wire in Australia but the best jackets are still J4's from the USA. Now just to make it harder, every time you need to purchase jackets you have to get an export permit so they can export the jackets to you. Export permits are not cheap and take time to get.

Thanks Guys
Nick, I’ll scab a copy of someone and have a read.
Trevor, No worries, I assumed saubier was a web site so I googled it and I’ll have a look over the next day or so
Pete, I would of looked at RCE gear and I was thinking of using corbin myself, but by the sound of having to get export permits, trouble with supply etc its probably to much hassle
Ned, thanks for the inside info looks like being to much hassle especially if the Aussie manufacturers are going to have trouble getting their gear let alone a backyarder
Thanks for the input but I think I’ll just stick with casting and gas checks on what I can
All the best

'Day john,
I remeber talking to Bill Hallam about making his own for BR, to be done properly (Bill's opinion) you needed 12 hrs of operating an O frame press to make 1000 Br grade projectiles............
From that moment on, I decided buy all mine
Besides, it seemed my time and money was better spent watching good wind flags and shooting someone elses match grade BR bullets........
Hope this helps.....
Cheerio Ned
