Been following reports for over a week or so of yet another cartridge in the long line of attemps to get an M4 to be an M14. Never going to work in their 9 and 14 inch barrels in standard issue M4s and it is time to go back to the old routine of design cartridge, then build rifle around it like they did with the 30/06, 7.62x51 and 5.56.
What i want to know is what pressures did they run to to get the 108s to those speeds in a 24 inch barrel out of a PPC? I've run 6BRs for years in 30 inch barrels to get 2800 to 2850 fps tops.
It's time to admit that what works in the jungle, in a helicopter or APC, is left short across the desert sands or ravines of most recent conflicts. A rifle for the job not a rifle for all jobs.
