22gn, 17 Cal researchers required

Just to get some new conversation on the 17 cal projectile front, over the next month I will be building some 22gn projectiles. They will be 22gn SP at just on .440” long and a 22gn open tip at .490” long. I will make approx 500 of each.
I just make them for myself but in the name of research, trash talk, bragging rights or just plain out, mine is faster than yours...I am looking for some 17 cal CF reloaders who want to give them a run in as many different case configurations as possible, ie 17H, 17AH,17/222,17/223,17 rem, 17 flintstone super eye bunger, whatever. Only criteria is that you post some discussion on your results so we can all have a giggle if you turn them into a grey mist mid flight, paper groups (good or bad) or some fur shooting results. What ever floats your boat, just need to keep it sane and state your detailed method of reloading the round.
Jackets are made out of annealed brass but the SP are made out of Eley black rim fire cases so they look pretty ugly but the critters do not mind.
There is no cost for the projectiles @ Qty x 50 of each type, just the postage @ the cheapest Aust post I can get it, approx $7.00
If you want to give them a run, please post here. 5-7 different people would be good.

G'day Bill.

Count me in - I bought Camel's .17cal Shilen and it is away getting fitted up to an old L461 action, .17-222 chambering.

Looks like you are getting a nice spread of chamberings Bill. Just need Seddo to chip in - from memory he has a .17 BR or .17 PPC that sends em out at insane velocities.

Ah here is the thread I was thinking of: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22955&hilit=17ppc

All right, I will close the books there. OL55 you may have been a little late. I will see how the number pan out. You may not get the full compliment of 50 of each. I will be in touch when I have them finished.
All jackets have been made and annealed, cores cut and the cores for the SP have been swaged to weight and so will start swaging the HP cores tomorrow. Only 1500 press applications to go. Got to love your press time.

No , no paddock pizzas Andrew , just very small holes , bulging eyes & no exit holes at 3700/800 FPS.

Yep this usually the case on larger critters like wallaby and dogs etc. One in the boiler house is instant internal soup. On rabbits, well head shots are the go if you want any meat off them. There is an assumption that velocity is externally messy, but really this only happens on very thin skinned animals.
The projectiles are thin jacketed but should be good for about 4300 ish. The really light projectiles rarely exit. The 30s have a lot more grunt but velocity is lower.
