Hey guys in the process of buying a Tikka varmint 7mm Remington magnum.
As i am new to the caliber just wondering what powder and projectiles people are having good results with.
Twist rate is supposed to be 1:9.5 with 23.5 inch barrel.
I will work up my own loads just need a good starting point with powder and projectiles.
Will be used for mainly paper punching with a couple of foxs and goats thrown in if they are unlucky enough.
Thanks for your help .
Cheers Bob

What powders do you have access to? ADI, Alliant etc.
Projectile wise you probably won’t need anything super heavyweight. Say maybe 120 grains or possibly lighter. The Sierra pro hunter 120 grain or Nosler 120 grain BT would be pretty good for what you’ve listed. Or if lighter maybe a 100 grain Sierra with more speed on board.
I’ve only used 140gn BT’s in my 7mm Wby. Very explosive on pigs even at 180 yards.
Can run some numbers in Quickload if you want once your worked out how you want to go.
Cheers,
Rob

Pretty much restricted to ADI powders but can get the whole range.
In regards to projectiles if sierras shoot the same as the 39gn blitz kings in my 204 then i will probably go that way.
With weights 140-160 sounds about where i want to be.
Thanks for your help mate appreciate it.

That definitely is a good load for the rifle.
Would live to hit a target at that range and i am planning on stretching its legs.
