Re: Anyone Here Anneal
Johno,
Been annealing for a while now. Bear in mind I am talking BR rifles only. I have found marked increase in concentricity, through exactly the same dies, used the same way. Also more uniform 'feel' when seating bullets. Has it improved group size? Too early to tell, but has definitely improved my confidence in my loads, which is still an important thing.
I built my own 'Skippy', don't use the case feed, just drop the cases in with long nosed pliers. I have two pans, one for 6BR - 308 sized cases, and one for the 30 Boo Boo and 300 Redneck. I bought some Tempalac from Brownells, and away we went.

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
Once I get the stuff sorted I want form up 200 cases and they will need annealing happy to pay to get it done. I reckon one of those mechanical units would be good for a high volume I thought someone here had one
Jeff these are 30 m.1 carbine cases necked to 17 they go through 2 form dies then FLS die. My thoughts were to get them to FLS remove the expander then have them annealed

Pretty basic set up, but it works. Have done 338/06, 20/222, 17/222, 25 Camel, will be using this set up for any more that I need doing

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
I started annealing a couple of years ago
I believe neck tension is more even
I should add the cases are 17 Mach 1V and 20 Vartarg formed from 222 and 223 cases.
My success if you could call it that has meant I now anneal all my brass
Chappo has an annealing machine

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
I started doing it on the 5.6x57 and will do the 17 Rem cases next time as I am getting a few splits there. I use a similar setup to Camel

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
Gary built one too i have yet too especially for the little m1 case. Have the controllers and has moved up the to do list yet .
Have dibs on a milo tin thats almost empty will be using for my first crack. Will find the link Johno for Adams if you want to bild one. If not i could pull the finger out and get it moving as will be made for the m1 definitely.

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
I anneal all my brass now, not every loading though. Made forming 20VT easy from 223. I would anneal your 30M1 before you start forming and then when formed, make it easier to form and then remove the work hardening before loading.
I made an annealing machine for something to do, Camels method is good too. Use a black felt pen to put a line down the case, it is a good indicator of how far the heat travels as it burns off. Practice on some old brass.

Re: Anyone Here Anneal
Johno I use Sinclair case holders chucked in my drill. I spin the case with the neck shoulder in the flame of a mapp gas burner while I count to three. Then dunk in cold water. Not scientific.
I'd be happy to do yours for you but my unscientific method may not be up to standard for others. Also happy to catch you somewhere in our next trip to Buchan and lend you the torch and case holder.
