Velocity

Post by mistit »

I spoke to matt at LRP solutions about a 220swift ackley improved , matt ordered a reamer and I sent the print off to whidden gunworks and had a full lenght bushing die made to suit the chamber .i did some load development today which consisted of very little other than shoot it through the chrony until I got the desired velocity then shoot it at 2-3 and 400 yds , velocity was 4600 with a 40 ballistic tip , fair dinkum .6 inch 5 shot group at 300 yds , 1 group don't tell me every thing other than dont waste my time burning the barrel out trying to prove any points , zero at 300 was 1.5 high at 200 3iches low at 400 . Now this is real world in the paddock with a lieca 1600 range finder not the ballistic chart in a book . To say I'm impressed is an under statement , :)

You single-handedly trying to turn back the .20 cal tide mistit?

As Camel said, that is smoking. Can't wait to hear how it goes on the furries.

C'mon Marcus get real. If it was a 20 220 it would have been so much betterer . And there is a lab and ballistic calculator somewhere to prove it.

Very nice Mark

He's not alone, I still haven't found a reason to get a 20, 222 and swift do everything I need and with a bit more class :)
Have another 4000fps+ rifle on the way to join the swift but decided to go bigger not smaller.

I should also mention I found that load a little warm so I've backed it off today to 4400 , still a stinging load and bugger all in it over 400 yds with same zero as the hotter load , at 4400 they won't give me any problems
