Bullet puller?

Hey All,

I had a crack at pulling one of the 5.6x57FMJ rounds, bloody hell that thing is stuck! Tried my kinetic puller and gave it a real good try and barely budged it, kinda thought once it started it may have let go but it's got a vice like grip on it.

Anybody using one of the of the other types of puller on stuff that is pretty well stuck?

Remove a die from your press- place bullet in the holder and raise the Ram.
Bullet should extend past the top.
Grasp bullet with pliers and lower ram.

Done 200 like that last week- lost about 5 projectiles.

I do what Tex said using the vice grips, works well, does leave marks though.

Gave one a try using pliers as per Tex, got one half way out and thought that wasn't mych fun. Bloody stuck, may try again tomorrow.

Set the seating die to push the bullet in 10 thou just the break the bond between it and the neck.

I don't think that will make much difference as the one I had hold of with the pliers is half way out and still tight as the proverbial, kinda thought once it was moving it would be easier but that's not the case. Kinda not surprising they (the factory rounds) had some pressure issues as the neck tension was certainly a bit excessive

I'll play again tomorrow if I get a chance.

Easiest way to get them out is the way they were designed to come out

Think of it as fire forming your brass .

Just shooting my way thru them was my original plan but they seem to have random pressure issues and a percentage of them were getting marks (or distortion) on the rim and that seemed to be preventing them from slipping into the shell holder. So I was getting way too much brass wastage for my liking

Given how tight these things are held it's a wonder they were getting put the barrel anyway

I had another short crack at pulling a few this morning. I wasn't real comfortable putting grips straight on top of my new press so cut a piece of 3mm allum and hole sawed a hole thru it, used the vice grips and managed to go thru a part box and pulled them OK.

I did think the issue with fitting them in the shell holder was caused by firing the but no out of a part box there were 4 (out of about 15?) unfired that didn't fit in the shell holder, crap German brass

Anyway, managed to get a few of them pulled so if I get a chance latter on I've still got 2 boxes to pull.

There seems to be a consensus running.

I might do a trip to the LGS next week (gee that'll be a surprise for them ) and see if they have a cam lock puller, maybe even try another brand (tried Lee & RCBS so far) and see if I can use all of my brass?

Hornady cam lock here, if its 1 or 2 i still use a hammer as it quicker than pulling out the die and selecting a bush.

I just use I pair of pliers with electrical tape around the jaws in the press with die removed
