Group analysis from the LR Experts

So what is my next move from here with my 300win guys?
Shooting 178gr Amax.
The numbers are the velocities.

The 70gr were an excellent group but really not going fast for a 300Win.

Would love to get your thoughts

There were no obvious pressure signs from even the 72gr load of 2213SC do I just go up from here in 0.5gr increments?
Otherwise I may as well bought a 308?

We started at 72 with 2213sc!

Ended up at 73.5 with no pressure with 208's.
2850fps!
Went higher but the groups opened up.

In my new 300 I will run 2217.

Seems to be slightly slower velocities compared to 2213SC, with lower pressure as well.

The 67-70gn looks like you're coming into a node, with 71gn starting to open again, but then 72gn looks to break that pattern. Was the wind different when you shot the 72gn load? It's the only one with no vertical, which is good, but you have a horizontal string.

ADI Book max is 73gn for a 180gn, so unless you see pressure first, I'd repeat the 72gn group and shoot a 73gn as well. Don't see any point in half grain increments in the larger cases unless you're really trying to fine tune.

Your velocities are also way down on both what I'd expect, and also what I get out of my 300WSM - is it a short barrel on the gun?

I'm assuming 100m, BTW. If it's further out, leave it alone!!

Push on.
I would use 2217 myself,always got beetter results in the 7mm and 300 mag.
You may have a slow barrel or a slow chrony.
Run an elevation check on the speeds,to be sure.

Like you said, at that speed you may as well have a 308, unless it has a short barrel. If there are no pressure signs, why not go up in the 2213sc load to see if you can get to the next node, around 100-130 fps higher. If you don't have any luck getting up to the next node, you can always drop back to the 72gn load again. Work up with a chronograph. Your 72gn loads have a marginally bigger velocity spread, but with the limited sample size, it might not mean much. See what happens when you approach the next node, if velocity spreads increase too far, you know it is time to go back to the light 72gn load.(or try 2217 as others mentioned)
