Primer pocket cleaning

Post by kickinback »

Had a bit of a conundrum yesterday. After sizing I was looking at the primer pockets and was thinking they needed a clean. Now i have a primer pocket cleaning tool and it does the job, just. I looked over at my bead blast cabinet and thought I would give it a go. Now before you start calling me a redneck idiot and saying that i have just stuffed 100 cases let me explain. I made a brass cover that fits over the case head, and it has a hole drilled in it .5mm smaller than the primer pocked. I just sit the case in it and wave the gun over it for a second or two and hey presto, clean primer pocket.

What do you fellas use for this process?

Whoops, my post was deleted along with the double post on this subject.

I just use an Ultra sonic cleaner, with a White Vinegar/Demineralised water mix, sparkling clean and cheap as chips.

Just have to rinse them out, and then they tumbled to get a good lasting shine.

I use the Sinclair uniformer as well. I would be worried about blasting some of the brass away using a sandblaster particularly if using garnet, would be fine if using glassbeads or walnut

If you go to bunnings and buy the dremel carbon wire attachment which costs around six bucks you can do 50 cases in under 3 min flat I no I do with my .308 cases and they come out sparkling clean, better than brand new brass....simply slide it in to any chord less power drill and your done......cheers :D

If you buy a sinclair primer pocket uniformer it chucks in the drill and you can do 50 cases in under 3 min flat with a tool designed to do the job! :D

Granted, it takes longer the first time as you are taking out brass to err...... uniform the pockets :o but that's a one time chore.......
