G'day Quick,
I reckon any data for a match load for a 6mm Dasher/6BRX, 6mm International etc or even a 6XC would be a great starting point. you can download the ADI Reloading manual that lists all these cartridges. This is a great starting point using local powders.
For my 6x47 Lapua, I used 36gn 2208 and 70gn SMK as an initial fire forming load and 37gns for 66gn bullets for the same purpose.
Hope this helps
Cheerio Ned

As Ned said the 6mm/250AI would have similar capacity to the 6x47L.I am using 39.6 grns of 2208 behind 75 grn V-max for 3650 fps.

Gents,

Cheers, I already have a 6x47L so that's good news I can treat it the same. I'd go for a 6x47L in this aswell if getting brass for it was easier. 22-250 brass is cheaper and easier to get and I won't cry if I loose some like I will with my 6x47L brass. It's going to be in a 8T so the 70-75gr stuff will be spinning fast :)

I think you can form 250 brass into 6x47 Lap if you want but it will still have large primer pocket. If you already have the dies and can get some 250 brass give it a go and see what happens

I run 37.5 gns of 2208 for 3650fps with a 70gn nbt. When the barrel wears out I will be rebarelling to 6x47 l as I still have 200 cases for the comp rifle I had. Hmmm why bother ai with a 6/250? Why not use your 6x47l and make something completely different instead of trying to make a clone with cheap brass. Is cheaper brass a good reason to try to duplicate another rifle? The prep I put into my brass even the cheap cases are treated as priceless.

Exactly what Trevor said!

You spend more time preping cheap brass so it ends up the as much as Lapua anyway!

Any of you guys formed 6x47L from 22-250 brass?

Why would you want to?

I have a 6x47L and it is spectacular!

The time you spend forming could be better spent shooting.

Even if you do form them they still won't be the same as a 6x47L case!

G'day All,
FWIW, a quick pass through a Forster 6x47 dies turns the 6.5x47lapua into a case for fire forming into a 6x47 Lapua; I hate forming brass (a condition brought on by nearly 20 years of making 6ppc brass). Start with quality brass, every time for the very best outcome.
Remember the K.I.S.S. principle!
I am a firm believer of finding a case of sufficient powder capacity that is either commercially available or needs less than 1 case forming die to make a case that WILL deliver the required MV for a given bullet weight.
My prime reason for this theory is I'd rather spend my time either fire forming, running in a barrel or load development and hunting/target shooting than tedious case forming. In many cases (no pun intended) carrying out several of these functions at the same time
This idea for me is especially relevant these days now there is SO MANY options for ANY given bullet weight and MV.
Fundamentally, I'm too old for that sh*t!
Nevertheless, I admire those brave souls who go out order reamers, dies, barrels etc for that one (or many) exacting perfect cartridge/bullet combo and who also who love the experimentation. It is these people who MADE the PPC case!
You may be crazy, but I love your style, but sadly it is not for me! However if you DO crack the ONE AND ONLY perfect combo, I will copy you! :P
Food for thought, thankfully we are not all sheep!
Cheerio Ned

What about the 6x47L case fireformed in the 6mm250AI chamber?
