G!Day all,
Just wondering if anyone uses a 6XC, it looks like a very good cartridge i'm thinking of building a varmint gun in thes calibre.

G'day Rolf,
it's very nearly the same as the 6x47lapua, only thing it has is a large diameter flash hole.
FWIW, brass for the 6x47 lapua is formed from the parent case 6.5x47 lapua run through the forster 6x47lapua FLS die and basically that's it, Get a reamer that is a no turn neck , use redding competition FLS & Seater dies and you will never look back approx 3000+ fps with a Sierra 107MK.
Hope this helps

Hi Rolf,
I have a varmint gun in 6x47Lapua with a 1in12 twist barrel that I run 67 grain projectiles out of!
It is devastating on fluffy things!

x1 but I run 75 grain V-maxes at around 3650 fps way

Thanks fellas,
That gives me something to think about. It is going to be a 6XC, 6x47 Lapua, 243 Ackley Improved or 22/250 Ackley Improved, just can,t make my mind up yet.
Regards Rolf.

G'day Rolf,
I went around and around several times starting first with the 6BR, then 6XC and then the 6x47 lap and back to the 6BR, before finally deciding on the 6x47lapua for the following reasons...........
* small flash hole to reduce pressure inside the primer pocket - lower pressure in primer pocket for any given pressure in case when compared to the larger flash hole of the 6xc. (basically the 6xc is identical to the 6x47 lap except for the flash hole size..........check saami drawings they are very similar)
* longer neck than 243 = (hopefully) less throat erosion than equivalent loads in a 243W
* 30 deg shoulder like ppc/BR cases
* easy to form brass and also readily available
* known performance from members on this forum, 6BR.com and Benchrest Central.
* larger case capacity than 6BR so I can use slower powders for heavy bullets to actually get the MV I needed without hammering the case
* 6x47 is basically a 6mm version of a 22-250AI (both have same length), but I believe the 6x47lap has a better design
hope this helps
