32 grn OR 39grn BKs FOR .204

Post by HAIR BEAR »

G'day all
what are peoples taughts on either the 32 grn biltzking or the 39 grn blitzking , just want it for rabbits , crows , doves (turtle) hares and foxes , i have noticed every one seems to like the 39 grn , but the speed of the 32 grn , seem to attract me :D
i konw the down range energy is higher in the 39 grn and the wind drift factor , but you would learn to compensate for that ?(wind drift)

thanks
:D :D :D

G"Day Hairbear
Sound like you have already made your mind up.
Give both of them a try and see what you think.
I have used the 39's and find them excellent on paper, but I have not tried the 32's.
I would imagine the 32's would be that bit flatter shooting.

I luv the performance of the Sierra 39gr BK. Have never tried the 32gr BK. But with this performance, why change......

The answer is easy, let the rifle tell you which bullet it likes best :D . Truly, it's the best way. For example, my CZ likes the 32BKs better than anything else, while my Savage likes the 32 VM best, neither shoot anything heavier particularly well, although 39s aren't bad (just not as good as the 32s). Let your rifle speak!

G'day all
glen , been reading some of the back pages on the ruger.204 site over your way , and alot of people are saying alot about the 32 bks , but youu are right might have to buy both and see what the rifle likes , just don't want to end up with more dust collecters on the shelf , and with a 4 month old miss's sort of looks funny when you buy something that you taught would be good :D :D

Hair Bear, I load 27.9 2206h with the 39 bk and a rem 7 1/2 BR primer in rem brass. 27.8 in the ladder load gave 3 shots in the same hole and 2 less than half inch away. Since the 27.9 load (and this is right up near max so usual disclaimers apply) had all shots cutting, it became my load. Nothing escapes unless i jerk the trigger.

I totally agree with Glenn Asher. I tried the 32 and 40 factory loads. My rifle didnt like them. I tried handloads with the 32s. couldnt get near a group so sold them on eBay. I loaded a full grain over max (yes its stupid but went up .1 at a time) before i got shots all touching with the 40 V Max
Got 5 shots under an inch with the 40 NBT and 27.8 gn 2206h. When i loaded them out (so they wouldnt fit in the magazine and had to be singly fed) this group tightened.

When the 39 BK is just so bloody accurate (for an average shooter with a factory rifle) every time and absolutely pole axes small game, i gave in to the rifle and only load what it likes!

Try different projies. If your rifle doesnt like them there is always eBay!

Hey HB,

The 204 load is mid-range and was picked from a book, not developed. I was lucky. I'm still new to the 204,... very impressed.

Case: Remington (new brass atm)
Primer: WSR (will use CCI BR4 next)
Powder: AR2206H
Projectile: Sierra 39gr BlitzKing
COL: 2.365"
Velocity: ~3700ft/s
