Has anyone used these projectiles for hunting? I know there is a fierce debate regarding match projectiles as hunting bullets as some have thin jackets and fragment or others dont consistently expand. But there isnt much info on them and since they are supposed to be pretty accurate and im going to use my 308 for target as well as hunting work, I figured it would be good to get one load sorted and leave it as that. Going to be shooting anything donkey size downwards.

Quite a few of the CPM boys up here use the 155 Dyer on pigs and donks, seems to work a treat.
Shoot like stink too.

Hi Brad, My son Ben and I have just come back from a Chital Deer hunt, Ben used 155gn Dyer HBC projectiles in his .308 Winchester with great results. he took 3 deer from 35 ft to 150 mtrs and none of the projectiles exited, they did however turn their insides into mush for instant kills. Some of the guys at Darwin rifle club have used them on Donkeys and Camels with the same results. The Camels however were head shot at long range and report are that it liquifies the inside of their heads. the projectiles are very accurate we use them out to 1000 mtrs in Darwin, and at $ 350.00 / 1000 they are cheap also.

You wouldnt be willing to part with a few (can send some coin across) for 20 or so to see if my gun likes them? I dont really want to buy 1000 of them in case they dont shoot. Im getting some of the new sierra's from a local guy here to see which is better shooting for f class out of my gun.

I havent seen any guns yet which dont shoot them well. I,m interested in how they go for hunting as I tried them in my hunting 308 and they shoot so well.

Mate PM me you details and I will send you some to try, Im sure that you won't be dissapointed. I use a load of 45.5 gns AR 2208 / 155 Gn Dyer HBC /CCI BR primer in Nosler or lapua brass and 46.5 gns AR 2208 / 155gn Dyer HBC/ CCI BR primer in weight sorted Winchester brass and they all shoot like stink. one thing that Ben and I have found is that they like a jump of between .030" to .050". These projectiles outshoot Sierra SMK's in both my Barnard and Remington.

Bit of an update.

44.4gr 2206H, lapua cases, fed primers and the HBC's shoot very well. 3 shots were into two touching holes, one to the right of the other. Going to order a hundred more and do a bit more testing at 300 and further.

Rolf, thank you very much for sending me some sample pills. I dont have much around here in any other size than 204 cal, but if you ever want to try any out, please dont hesitate to ask.
