My suggestion is get your hands on a bulk pack like Sierra Roo Load, Nosler Shots or Speers.
These bulk packs are aimed at pro roo shooters that need cheap projectile due to the amount of shots they fire, but they also need decent accuracy.
Over on AHN HPGS advertised Speers 55gr SP projectiles at $117 per 1000. I bought some of the Sierra ones from them 12 or so months ago for $170-180 for 1000.
I find boat tail projectiles easier to seat that was why i picked the sierras.
IIRC my costings are:
45c a case (rem brass)
18c a projectile
5c a primer
15c for powder
First shot is 83c, each shot after that is 38c.
The key to cheap is to buy in bulk.
I think the sierra bullets are around $30 for 100, Primers are $6-7 per 100 and powder is $45 per 500grams.
Bulk buying gets you cheper Bullets $180 per 1000 ($18 per 100), primers $45-50 per 1000 ($4.5-5 per 100) and powder $275 per 4KG ($35 per 500grams).
Shop around for you projectiles if you local is too high. They can be mail ordered from the bigger gunshops like QGE & HPGS and shipping is about $15-20.
Hope that helps.

Yeah Nosler shots are the go you can get them in 100pks so you can try them without outlaying for 500 or 1000 only to find your stuck with them if your rifle doesn't like them. A little dear by the 100 but we currently have them for $21.45/100. Cheapest tipped projectiles at present seem to be the Hornady V-max at $33.80/100 they will put you over the 50c mark but not by much.

I've used 50gr Nosler SHOTS my best group with them was .8 inches at 100m. Plenty accurate enough for what you require!

I'm with Richta, I use the 52g Nosler SHOTS, HPBT and they work a treat and are accurate and cheap.

yeah, completely rethink! what use is a 50ct reload that misses small rabbits at 200m compared to a 60ct load that hits?
Start looking for accuracy first.
Having said all that, nosler shots 55gn grouped very well in my wifes 22/250

a few of my loads
22-250 load
Primer 5 cents
Projie 22 cents (50gr Taipan HP)
powder 22 cents (@ $45 per 500g)
223
Primer 5 cents
Projie 33 cents (80gr AMax)
powder 15 cents ($45 per 500g)
obviously if you buy cheaper projies or you powder in bulk this would be cheaper.

+1
I am about to redo my Load Dev with 55gr Blitzkings (~$20/100) & Lapua Brass.
Should work out as a resonable Target/Varmint load and i will still have my cheaper Roo Load/Rem Brass combo for spotlighting & cull work.

I load both 55 sbk and sgk's, 24.5gr of BM2 and BR4 primers....not particularly fast but accurate and both shoot to the same point. Using federal brass but weeded them out for weight and length (they're all under the recommended trim to dimension).
