Re: 243 ackley improved
Isn't the general rule for AI chamberings to start with the max loads of the standard case?
ie using max 243 win loads in your 243 AI as a starting point.
No doubt someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon. Bushchook has a 243 AI so hopefully he will see your post.

Re: 243 ackley improved
I like 2208 for projectiles up to 75gns and 2209 for 80gns and above.
43.5gns of 2208 with the 70gn NBT gave 3717 FPS and was maximum in my rifle.
The 75gn V Max seems to produce similar pressures (lower velocities though) to the 70gn NBT with the same charge weights. Probably due to its short bearing surface. 42gns of 2208 with the 75gn V Max gave sub half MOA accuracy at 3519 FPS but I wanted more zoom and this was only one group . Higher charge weights weren't as accurate but 3600 FPS is achievable at 43gns.
The 80gn Berger HP has proven extremely accurate in both my rifles and kills varmints OK . Groups in the 0.3's and velocity of 3419 FPS with 45.5gns of 2209 . This is close to maximum .
45gns of 2209 with the 87gn V Max is close to maximum in my rifle but gives excellent accuracy given the limitations of this projectile. Same powder charge works with the 88gn and 90gn Berger.
I have tried a wide variety of projectiles up to 105gns in my 2 rifles and the 88gn Berger is my favourite varmint pill with explosive effect and sub half MOA accuracy. 45gns 2209 gave velocities of 3280 FPS .
In my experience none of the varmint grade Noslers or Hornadys will give consistent half MOA even in custom match grade barrels by Tobler and Lilja .

bushchook
we did some load development on wednesday and had very similar results to yours, got it to shoot .3" and our loads are about a grain less than yours, what action are you using?
cheers

First one I had was a Remington with Tobler 26" barrel and 1 in 9" twist . Latest is a Stiller Predator with Lilja and similar specs.
