22-250 55g sierra HPBT, tried all the fancy stuff, these seem to be just as good in my rifle as the ballistic tips, and a lot cheaper. They also seem to group better at the range, though im no legend of a shot but whats 5 or 10 mm in the field. And 55g FMJ for pelts.
The .308 likes the sierra HPBT also in 155g, im still in the process of testing loads but it really likes the winchester superX 155g softpoint factory loads.
I havent done too much mucking around, just tried a few different loads and bullet weights and stuck with the best one.

I'm still trying to find a source - where do you get them from?HiWall wrote:I like Berger bullets, dear as poison, hard to get, but they are extremely accurate and explosive on impact.
I use 55gr VMAX in the .223 (Slightly better than Nosler BT's in that rifle)and 58gr VMAX or 70gr Berger MEF in the .243

Due to my slow twist on the martini 222rimmed all of the plastic pointed bullets are no good as they are too long so I have been trying 50gr Reming Power-lokt Hollow points and without a heap of load workup are shooting straight and found out this weekend they hit hard and were making a good mess on anything they connected with.
Seeing as this post has not seen much happening since stinkitup has brought it to the surface again, I'll throw in my two Bob's worth.
When I am varmint shooting, I try to get as far away as possible from the target as possible within reason. Choice of calibre must be taken into consideration here. But, for the moment I'll stick with .224
To shoot at long distances and still be effective there are a few projectiles that I have tested.
The Sierra 52 grn HPBT match bullet is great. The boat tail will assist when getting right out there. If I'm in a little closer, if find that the flat based bullets are better, I like the Speer 52 grn HP match bullet. They are accurate and also very, very destructive.
I use a .220 Wilson Arrow and a 22-250 AI.
