agreed but one is too hard to find and the other is too bloody expensive considering it cant do anything the taipan cant do for half the price

Sorry mate I meant hunting wieght like nbt's come in varmint and hunting wieghts and there is no blitzkings in .257 and no match bullets that I could find it's like the forgotten calibre
Hunting wight like the 87gn Sierra SP's and the 110gn Accubonds I mentioned? Dont be shy to try the V Max either you will be surprised.

(dunno why everyone is still hell bent on Nosler BT's?????????????)
Recently, I have been fiddling with a .257 Roberts A.I. and have found that the 115 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips to be the most consistent performer in regards to accuracy. And, let me tell you I tried a whole heap of pills before I settled on the Ballistic Tips.

Well, having put thousands of rounds through the .257 Roberts improved, I have finally had the barrel replaced with a Kreiger match grade stainless. As there was no suitable reamer available, I found a gunsmith with a match reamer in 25-06. Similar performance between these cartridges anyway.

OK, in the Roberts I used a lot of Nosler 85 and 100 Ballistic Tips on game, but my favourite bullet was the 100 gn Speer HP. This bullet has a huge HP on it, and on paper was extremely accurate. On game it was devastating, and I have shot goats, pigs, deer and other ferals with it.
AR 2209 was the powder of choice in the Roberts, with 50.5 grains under a 100gn Speer giving 3300 fps. I have loaded the 25-06 with exactly the same, but will switch to AR 2213 (or Reloader 22) when the powder needs replacing.

Can't seem to get the 87 Taipan's down here, but the Speer 87 TNT (which is so close in dimensions to an 87gn Berger HP) is extremely accurate and good for long range bunny smashing.

I have not bothered to go down to the 75gn range of bullets, but mates who have reckon they can get 3700fps with good accuracy.

Have fun with the quarter bore - it's a lot of fun.

Cheers

Jimbo,

Grab a box of 75 VMax's they are great on long range bunnies. The Sierra 90 HPs are accurate and hit hard as well.
The 2209 is good with the 75's but for 90 grns and over I run 2213SC works a treat.
