30 Carbine & 7.62x 39 cases
30 Remington brass is essentially rimless 30-30 brass. The 6.8 spc is 30 Remington shortened and necked down. You fellows have your act together on the wildcat business. That's great! I've shot a number of smaller whitetails with the 7.62 X 39 and 125 grain bullets. I've a Sako rebarreled and an AR-15. The 7.62 shoots pretty well also with the 150 grain bullets too. I know you've heard of the 300 whisper. I've often wondered about 220 grain match bullets inthe 7.62. Ah, so many ways to go, so little time. THe idea of a necked down 30 carbine in the hornet CZ really sounds intresting. You know about the 5.7 Johnson, the carbine necked to .22 @ 2850 fps. It might work in the CZ mag? and maybe even be better in 19 or 17 cal. What a hobby? Good luck on your project. Over here some were rechambering 30-30 to 300 Savage Rimless and the 30-30 extractors snapped over the rim enough to work. Maybe look at that CZ /carbine case closely?
Many years ago i did a 22 cal wildcat on the 30 Carbine case which is better known as the 22 Carbine. Ackleys' book has all the load data on this little number and from memory it was just shy of 222Rem and had fair bit more grunt than a Hornet with the powder charge falling somewhere between the two. Like Ackley had claimed in the 60s', the accuracy was astounding. I had originally built it for centerfire BR50, but because of its demise, i never got to shoot it in comp. Retrospectively i should have done it in 17 cal as the smaller hole is an advantage to worst edge scoring. I still have the barrel, cases and dies and case form up dies all sitting there collecting dust since 1998.
