223 relaod help....
Re: 223 relaod help....
I used to use ballistic tips (55gr) but switched to a Remington hollow point still 55 grain loading with ADI AR2208 powder (1.6cc) to be just right. Still kills them clean without the blowing them totally to bits

Re: 223 relaod help....
I also use Hornady 35 grn V-max these pills sizzle in my .223, however the 22-250 with a 1 in 9 twist skins the jackets from them.

If you are going to use your 223 to hunt Deer then do not get caught, regulations state that hunting Deer your rifle should be a 243 miminum.

Re: 223 reload help....
Best load in my Sako is 55gr VMax with 24.5 grains of Viht N133. This is a hot load, so work up to it.
I don't shoot deer, but if Aus red deer are the same as UK red deer, .223 would be way too small IMHO. .308 seems far better suited with a sensible choice of bullet.

Re: 223 relaod help....
stick with the 308, and try to hit it in a good spot, especially if your after a head mount
Re: 223 relaod help....
I chronograped my 223 yesterday using the 55gr remmington hollow point wbacked by 1.6cc of AR2208 powder and it was consistantly spitting out projectiles at 3300 fps. so I am pretty happy with that (Barrel has a 1:8 twist)

Re: 223 relaod help....
Has anyone chronographed the muzzle velocity of a 35grn Vmax utilising ADI powder, secondly has anyone developed a subsonic load for a .223 using ADI powders?
