243win with 55gr

Post by fox shooter »

Was looking at loading up some 55gr proj have been using 75/80gr but thought 55s at 4000fps sound good for foxes and rabbits ADI list 2206h & 2208 for best velocity so was wondering if anyone has used 55gr and which powder performed best ADI also list 09 & BM2

fox shooter i had a 243 with a 14 twist barrel ...55 b/tips were unbelievable on crows and rabbits ....major damage....found them useless on pigs (to be expected ) dont bother picking the crow up for a photo unless you have 6 hands :D

In my 1:9 Rem 700 the Nosler 55gr BT's grouped under moa at 100m but not so good at 200 and 300m. The holes were round but seemed more pronounced than my preferred 85gr SGK's...???

I didn't persist with them.

i have a t3 tikka with a 1 in 10 barrel. i load 55 grain ballistic tips with ar2209(it is a bit slow burning but is a compromise so i can use the same powder for the 95 grain projectiles as well). in my rifle i use federal brass, federal 210 primers, 48 grains 2209(not overly heavy) and a coal of 2.650 and it shoots better than i can. 1/2 inch on good day easy. dosent like the wind much. very flat shooting hold on target on crows at 300 metres.

The load I found to work well in that particular rifle was the ADI max charge of 2208 which is 45 grns.Very spectacular Paddock pizza hey Keith

Tika Hunter. I used the 2208 as per the ADI manual. With a 55 gr ballistic tip the performance is awesome. With foxes, I hits em and guts em in one go. Tiny hole one side no side the other. Hit a rabbit under 100 m and the is just blood and fur every where. Damn good shit!
