69/70 grain pulls mine up.But they shoot very well out to 700 yards(yes I did say 700 yards. In reasonable conditions.)

Might look at the 69gr matchking, anyone know if the AI version makes a difference at this rate of twist or is it a safer bet just to get a 1:8?

69 Sierra Matchkings

75 HPBT Hornady. These are a match projectile too. They are not the Amax. Shot very well out of my LTR 223.

69SMK were great to 500m, from 500-600m is where I saw it starting to get a little tricky. 500m is a long way!

1:8 everything except the 90's pretty much!

The 1:8 with a AI'd case would be sweet in a long range varmint rifle. 75Amax at around 3000fps.!

Dave, 204 case necked up to 22 gives you just a little bit more horsepower before looking at the hot 22s :D

Yeah, before you all jump on, I know 204 case is based on a 222magnum, you end up with a 222m AI sort of thing

A couple of ideas.... and thoughts....

Consider price of projectiles. 20cals are right up there now!

If a 20cal, and something different maybe a 20-223AI. PTG make reamers for this. You can use 223AI body die 223AI bushing die for the neck with 20cal bushing, and then change the 223AI seaters stem to suit 20cal.

You then have one 20cal that you can use 223 Lapua brass... more poke than a 20TAC and 20Prac... most likely right up there with the 204R.

OR....

I would go with a 223AI!

Why not just buy a .22/250?? All that stuffing around for what?? Standard twist .22/250 will spin a 69/70 grainer fast enough to stabilise.
