7mm Rem Mag Powder
Hi Guys,
Just about to Load up some 160gr woodleigh's in my 7 Rem Mag. In the past I have really been using the wrong powder with the 140 Ballistic Tip. I'm wondering if any one else out there with a 7RM has loaded for the 160gr PSP and what powder they're using. The ADI numbers are pointing at 2225 for what I can make out, but thought I'd find out if there is some experience out there with regard to this.
Cheers

In exactly the same situation myself, I am yet to try them but loaded 160gr woodlieghs with 2225 and a few with 2213SC seeing as I had them both on hand.

Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
I think everyone is in the same boat.
2213SC and 2217 have been the best powders I have used in the 7mm but it does look like 2225 has a lot going for it.This is definetly one of those suck it and see times.
I think 7mmmag is also trying the woodleighs as well.
Someone will find a good load.

Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
2225 has given the highest velocites of the ADI powders with 140gr projectiles in my gun. Accuracy isn't as good as with 2213SC so I have to decide between an extra 150fps and 1/2-3/4moa accuracy loss. Hopping it will deliver on both counts with the 160gr woodleighs.

The old AR2214 was the ducks nuts in the 7 Mag. Pity they have stopped making it. Am going to give one of the VV powders a try soon.

HiWall,
Have you used all the 2214 you got from me or is it still at Antony's?

Thanks guys, didn't know there where so many 7mm Mag owners out there, will give the 2225 and some 2213SC a go, I'd prefer accuracy over fps I think, but comes down to the "suck it and see" I guess like previously said.

Still with Antony mate - if he hasn't got sick of waiting for me to pick it up. Been down that way a couple of times on the bikes, but never in the car, have been meaning to make a special trip but....Rinso wrote:HiWall,

I have been too bloody slack!!!
Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
Having only had my 7RM for a few weeks i tried 2209.......... a bit erratic and too slow. No one seemed to have any 2225 so i tried Reloader-22 with excellent results giving me a group of 0.7" with an AV of 3140fps. This is using 140gn accubonds though. Just my 2c worth.

Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
2209 too slow? Slower than 2225? Um Model70 have you been smoking the 2209?
Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
Mate i havent had the chance to compare 2209 with 2225 but the 2209 was only giving me an AV of 2910 compared to the 3140 that RE-22 gave me.
Re: 7mm Rem Mag Powder
Don't forget 2217.
The only 160gr projectile i have loaded for are Nosler Accubonds 65gr of AR-2217. They shoot .345 of an inch at 100yards.
I am working up a load for the 140gr Woodleigh PPSN will be trying 2217 and 2225.

Mate, sorry, didn't realise you meant velocity thought you where talking burn rates, follow now. Yeah, the RE-22 sounds good.Model70 wrote:Mate i havent had the chance to compare 2209 with 2225 but the 2209 was only giving me an AV of 2910 compared to the 3140 that RE-22 gave me.
7mmmag - will try the 2217 as well mate, thanks.
