what is a .17 pee wee?

just saw one on used guns and was wondering what it is as I've never heard of it before

its a 7.62x33 (30 carbine) necked down to .17

However, it was reportedly intended for single-shot rifles, not the M1 Carbine. The .17 Pee Wee did see a resurgence in the early '60s with the release of surplus Carbines."
