30-06 loads

Post by zlugz »

Hi All

Just picked up a Ruger m77 mkII in 30-06.
has anyone got any good loads to share to save me a bit of time? Would like one down near the 120's for light game and target and something 150-180 or better for hefty animals (Arnhem land pigs are monsters)

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

For pure hunting, i get good results with 150gr Rem Cor-lokt's (cheap too). Also good on game results and accuracy (3 shot .75" @ 100m)with 165 SST's. Rifle is a M98 Mauser.

57gr AR2209 and the 150 Corelokt.
Mild load, doesn't kick the shit out of you and kills pigs perfectly well. Yeah... The porkers up here are big but they are not armour plated!

Thanks all for the recipes, most are pretty much what I was looking at. Will try and see how I end up.

You must have read my mind! Am going to start with Sierra 150gr HPBT and start at the bottom load and work through to see which performs best. I was up in Arnhem last October but used a borrowed 308 with factory federals in 150gr soft points. Performed well. I'm not worried about their size, it's just good to cater well for what you are doing. just looking for a comfortable to shoot load that still has plenty of authority.

Cheers

165gr BARNES X, 57.0grains of AR 2209 for 2,820fps (approx)...... this is what a mate uses and it is a very accurate load in his tikka..

Cheers BB :hunting:
