G"Day All
Wondering what other shooters thoughts were on using 100grn nosler ballistics on goats and possibly the odd fallow deer.(I know its not a large enough calibre).
I Have used the 85grn ballistics on small vermin with devastating results, But I wonder if the 100grainers will be tough enough to do the job on larger goat sized game.
I dont want to go to 117grn projectiles.
Anyone used them and what were your thoughts,??
Regards
Damien Webb.
100grn noslers for the 25/06.??

Hey Damien,
Your info on the legal calibers for deer shooting is not quite accurate. There is no legal calibre size for deer shooting in NSW. I was chatting with a mate of mine on this topic last week. He is one of the state managers for the NSW Game Council. Within NSW it is highly recommended that only sambar are shot with 270 and above, and such with other deer species, a minimum calibre is recommended but not law. Only in Victoria it is against the law to shoot sambar with anything smaller than a 270.
I have also read that the minimum lagal calibre requirement for hog deer are .243, but in comparison to everything else, i can't see haw that is correct.

My cousin has killed a traincar load of deer with 100 grain factory CoreLokt's, and I've killed them with 100 grain Partitions very easily. These are fat Midwestern Missouri whitetails, some upwards of 250 pounds, too. Others use the 100 Ballistic Tips on the same deer, and are very happy with them.

If you nose around their forum site, specifically the guns section, you'll see what most of them like for those fat deer, which should be plenty for a fallow.
