Hi guys,

I've decided to bite the bullet and do a 25cal built, its been a good 5-6 years since i have owned a 25cal (25-06AI and 257Rob AI) and i think i need one in the safe. But instead of following the obvious path i have chose to order a 7 twist barrel and import some high bc 25cal projies. I have seen some good witre up on them but i dont think there would have been many that made it to our shores.... Watch this space

Sounds like a great venture seddo as i always felt the 25 cal was lost in space in recent years. As a caliber between the 6 and 6.5mm it was sort of forgotten. I shot a number of 25 cals over the years from 25 BR, 25x47 Lap AI, 25/284, 25/6.5x55, 25 Souper AI and a couple of 25/06s as a hunting round. Tried target bullets from 88 grain FBs through to 108s and 115s made by Fowler and JLK when John was still alive. I still have a Banshee barrel and cases floating around in the cupboard that never got used.
From my perspective, the 25/6.5x55 was about perfect case capacity. Beyond that the barrels die real quick. Below that the grunt just isn't there. For out and out accuracy, the Souper was outstanding and speeds easily rivaled the 25/06. Looking at it now, it's a 25 SLR with a slightly steeper shoulder so it's little surprise it was so accurate. The killer for me was powder where i was always a choice high or low on the burn charts. 2209 was just a little quick, and 2213 was a bit slow. With the heavier pills seddo you might get in the 2213 SC range depending on the case you opt for. Actually if i were do do a 25 today, i would build a sister to the 6 Creedmoor I'm currently doing and run Re23. Hornady is fucking with a 25 Creed and some new pill which sadly is not a VLD.

Its funny you say that, thats the reamer i've ordered to go with the 7 twist lilja. Peterson makes brass so you dont have form them.
