Anyone used Gordon's Reloading Tool?

Post by TheOtherLeft »

Hi all,

Has anyone tried using Gordons Reloading Tool (https://grtools.de/)? It's an alternative to Quick Load with a nicer interface, has OBT built in, and more importantly it's free. I've just started using using both QL and GRT for my new 7mm-08. There aren't many in-depth reviews as it only came out last year.

This is the first time I’ve heard of it. Not sure if I’ll ever used it, I’ve never used quick load or asked a user for data

Excuse my ignorance, but what does a 'reloading app' give you that a reloading manual and range time doesn't?

I imagine that the app is a source of data but reality says trigger time will tell the truth.

I have downloaded it but havent played with it yet.
It gives you the ability to predict" accuracy nodes" that saves wear and tear on your barrel, you still need to confirm via firing - but saves powder/pills and throat.

I have had quickload for years and its one of the most used things when doing development. Loading manuals have data for a limited number of powders and projectiles and then they are all loaded to the same length. What if you want a different projectile and powder combo with a long OAL and what ever barre length you have? That info doesn't come from a manual. On top of that the chrono data usually matches within 100fps of quickload and that can be tuned out to allow for powder batch variations. I've had data that was within 5 fps of the ave off the chrono.

Will be good to get some more feedback on it, I really should get stuck into it to have a good look.

Hard enough the primer just starts to back out. Then seat the projectile as hard as you can. Extra neck tension helps with velocity.

Don't forget to crimp or the projectile might push out.
