When I enter the details into a ballistics calculator the 1-12 isn’t as stable as the 1-10 should be.

Re: .300 win mag
I think your trying to create a problem that isn’t there. 1 in 10 is faster that 1 in 12. Anything that needs 1 in 12 as the minimum to stabilise it will stabilise in a 1 in 10Vermingone wrote:When I enter the details into a ballistics calculator the 1-12 isn’t as stable as the 1-10 should be.

A 1:12 will stabilise a 190grn match bullet so there is no issue here as far as hunting accuracy and bullet stability goes.
If anything the bullets in use are too light and something like the 208 would be a better choice for the 1:10 barrel twist,
When using a Win Mag with a 1:10 and seeking knock down power I would say why run 178's they are more suited to a 30.06. Use the heavier bullet better suited to the barrel twist so 200 - 210grn bullets this takes advantage of the case size in use.
On another note 2213SC is fine in the 300WM although 2217 will work just as well particularly with the 200-210grn range.
