I can see an extractor mark in the base of the case, might be a bit hot and have to back it off a little - or use the correct powder, either way

Back in the early to mid 80's when those Swedish Mauser M38s were readily available and all the go, I bought one with the after market stocks and Hilver mounts package deals, I was using 4064 powder, when I ran out I tried to buy a tin in Taree when passing through on the way hunting in QLD, old mate didn't have any in the gun shop, but dragged out a tin of 3031 and told me that "its just the same but a different number, use the same weight charge". I didn't use it, and I have often wondered if anyone else struck this fella and blew their rifle up.

Yep always good to cross reference advice/recommendations and be pedantic as f#$k when reloading cause it can have pretty catastrophic consequences as the photos show

A friend of mine owns about 5 swedish mauser went to the Sydney gun show and bought some 6.5 ammo from a seller there and it blew up in his face. I saw it and never want to see something like that again. The receiver was shattered into about 50 bits BUT the bolt didn't hit him in the face !!!!!! And he's fine and only got a few tiny scars to his forhead. Mausers are great actions and so are stillers that photo proves it. That's why I have two stillers. And yes I only have three swedish mausers and a whole lot of other toy's including lee enfields
