while i was washing up and staring out the kitchen window,i had a thought that turned into multiple thoughts
can you wrap a 17 pill in say, fine paper and stuff it into a 22 or 22 mag case [sabot] and still get acceptable accuracy ?
and would something like a gelatin left go hard on the base of a pill make a suitable sabot ? [made from something like rice]
thoughts gentlemens ?

Re: 17 & 22 question
I think it would need to be stouter than fine paper/rice paper as the powder burning would vapourise the paper as well.LoneRider wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2017 6:57 pm while i was washing up and staring out the kitchen window,i had a thought that turned into multiple thoughts

Re: 17 & 22 question
I am sure you could make something up but getting it to hold together long enough, neatly centered in the bore would be difficult. I like your thinking. Nothing like a bit of innovation to get the creative mind going.

Re: 17 & 22 question
So you want to cook the rice before you get the meat to have with it.
Plenty of info available on paper patched boolits. It will go bang and hit something, only one way to find out how effective.
The worst part is I'm thinking how could I try this

Re: 17 & 22 question
id like you to try mate.
i dont have any 17 pills or a 22 mag.
it must be possible.
accuracy is the only issue i can think of.
the paper/rice i think, should stay together long enough to exit the barrel.

Re: 17 & 22 question
If you search 450-577 martini paper patching there is a lot of info regarding actual paper patching.
Even guides on paper thickness, how to roll step by step etc. I believe the paper may be damp and it unravels in the bore from memory but it has been a while.
Using rice paper not so sure on has to be stout enough to not just melt etc Also who knows what the rice paper etc would leave behind where the paper comes out the bore.

New use for Tally-ho cigarette papers, now you will have a good excuse for when the coppers search you and find them, you wont have to worry about them searching for your hooch stash.
