Wearing out a barrel

Post by trevort »

After trying 40zmax in my 22z47 L with less than spectacular results I decided I would stick to the 55gn vmax load and stop mucking around eating barrel life.

So I just bought 100 40 Gn nbt and 50 45 Gn ACP.

Mistit 2206h ok for light pills?

Trev if the gun is shooting with the 55 vmax I'd maybe try some 40 b/tips at max velocity, just shoot one at a time through the chrony until you get to what you consider max should only take a few shots then shoot a 5 shot group at 300 if they don't shoot forget it , I pick 3 bullets I no kill well and use this method, if I can't get one of them to go that easily I start to get concerned, , 1.5 or a bit over at 300 yds is acceptable

Mark I bought the wrong contour barrel. I'm just mucking around safe in the knowledge that if this burns barrels as badly as I suspect I will have done all the experiments by the time I order the new barrel. I'll load a few up and try them at the missedathon

But I have 2206h on hand. Lowndsie already have it shooting well with that weight range. Just having fun seeing how fast some light pills will go! But thanks for the offer

Says who? Isn't that where the fun is at? Stretching the limits of machine and man.

Might just load some in the 22-250 and see what happens!
