221fireball necked to 17fireball

Has anybody necked down lapua or Norma
221fireball bass down to 17fireball ??
If so how did you do it ??
I have a redding type s match 17fireball
Bushing die ?? Can I use that by changing
Bushers ??

G'day mate, I haven't necked down 221 brass, but have done 222 brass, same critter really just a little longer. I start by running the 222 brass into a 222 neck die without the expander button, then use an intermediate neck bush that is about half way between the 22 and 17, then run it into the 17 bush, using a little lube at each stage. Might be a bit slow, but I don't like squishing the shoulder on nice brass. So yes, you can use your neck bush die no worries.

if you are using nitride bushings no need for lube

but as camel says, take it down in steps. use a 20 cal bush before you go to 17

You need to be mind full of neck thickness, when you go down from a larger cal the brass has to go somewhere so the neck gets thicker,
to thick of neck will create excess pressure. You will more than likely have to turn a few thou off them.
I will measure some necks on 17 Fireball tomorrow and let you know.
