I read once 'the bullet puller is the eraser of the handloader". An important bit of kit.
I found a better 300wsm load and had 45 rounds to disassemble. It would have been a pain doing that many with the hammer type. Anyway the wsm case didnt fit in my puller.
Since the wsm isnt used much I dropped the idea, however a member had offered to lend me a Hornady cam lock puller and I saw they were in the Sinclair catalogue for just under $19 US. A calibre specific collet was $8.75.
You screw it into your press, rasie the case into the body till it reaches the collet then cam over the handle on the bullet pulling die and raise the press arm. One operation, no hammerring. The powder remains in the case, the undamaged projie stays in the collet till you release the cam handle.
I highly recommend this bullet puller to anyone in the market for one.
Totally agree with you Trev. I don't like the hammer type puller at all. Mine is the RCBS puller which turns to lock onto the bullet rather than the cam over type. Not much difference in operation, just a quarter or less twist locks onto the bullet.
Yeah very quick and effective. You just have to make sure not to put too much pressure on the projectile and "squish" them like I did on my first few tries.
