Uhoh.. Tikka Mag Too Short for 208Gr AMAX?
To fit the 208gr amax into the Tikka Mag it's past the ogive only .738" is showing outside the case so about .800" is in the case. It seems that far too much projectile is in the case and taking up too much volume.
Thinking of going to 178 or 168gr Amax instead what are your thoughts guys?

wouldnt be firing that

Do you need to mag feed them? You could probably seat it out further and single load if you want it as your long range projectile.

Looks like the shorter ones will be the go, wanna go halves in a box of the 168gners ? I would like to try them in my 300WM, I only have a 1 - 12 twist.

How far away from the lands are you Keith?
In me factory 300 I shoot a 10thou jump and they still fit in the mag!

G'day Keith,
Not sure if it can be done with your mag, but to fit the .204R into the .17Rem magazine on my latest build, the smith took to the front of the mag with the dremel and cut out a small half moon at the front of the mag to accomodate the longer round.
As I said, not sure if this can be done with the fantastic plastic mags they have now though.
Good luck!

That's what happens with McTikka one size fits all action.
Assuming you're going LR I'd go with the 178s. Or trade the Tikka on a LA Remmy or Win M70.

Camel.
I'll send you some 168 and 178 free of charge if you like,so long as you promise not shoot introduced animals past 300 yards.

Im guessing by your last little bit that I will have to use them for shooting roos and galahs, that's about all there is out here that isn't introduced, it may also be a little too much for a snake gun.
