Hi I have just seen an add for this brand of ammo, but I have not seen any of it in Australia. They make a 60gn sub sonic .22 and a 25.5 gn hyper velocity .22 which I would like to try.
Does anybody know if this ammo is being brought into Oz, and by who?
Cheers
Steve

I would love to try the 60gners on stuff as the energy would be a lot more then a 40subsonic I'd imagine!
Haven't seen it in Aus sorry mate!
It's sold here, Mexican made. The 60 grain subsonic is loaded to LR length, on a .22 SHORT case, it's very odd looking stuff. I haven't used it myself, but a friend or twenty have complained that it leads the bore like a sumbitch
. Like I said, I have no personal experience with it. Others seem to like it. It gets "mixed reviews" just like anything else. I will give them credit for trying odd concepts and giving them a chance, that's how we learn, after all, trial and error.
They also worked with the .17 Aguila, before the bugs were worked out of the .17HM2, that took financial courage, and is to be applauded. The Aguila cartridge is probably a smarter deal than the HM2 turned out to be, the HM2 can't be used in a 10/22 without heroic changes to the bolt weight, while the .17 Aguila can be used without the heroics, it's a smarter way to go. In a boltgun, of course, it wouldn't matter a bit.

I asked about it at the Local Gun Shop (LGS) and they told me it's no longer made, which I know is incorrect. Read a bit about it on Rimfire Central and they make some interesting stuff. They even made the .17 Aguila years before the .17 Mach 2 came out - just a .22 LR case necked to .17, rather than the Mach 2's Stinger case.

I have used the 60 grain Aguilas in my famous Winchester 310 rifle and in my Ruger 22 pistol. In the rifle it's not accurate past 20 feet, and I'm not accurate with the pistol past 20 feet. I might connect with a rabbit at 30 feet, but likely not. The twist is not correct for that long a bullet. I've not tried the hypervelocity stuff. I can tell you the bullseye shooters have really adopted the subsonic long rifle Aquila because of it's consistently good accuracy for 25 and 50 yard pistol shooting. It shoots very well in my 310 and I hunt squirrels with it. I like the primer powered lr(not the 60 grain) for dispatching trapped possums and cats. pogy
