Can't decide between the rcbs charge master and the hornady auto charge.the biggest differance between the two is the price around $200 differance, other than that they seem pretty much the same.anyone anything to do with either?
Thanks Jon

Re: Can't decide
Look at how quickly they throw a given charge.
6mmBR has a review but it does not include the new Hornady.

I bought a RCBS charge master a few months back & its made reloading so much faster...just throws a few over now & then with 2208 but a Mcdonalds straw is apparently a quick fix.... good unit though.JBS3 wrote:Can't decide between the rcbs charge master and the hornady auto charge.the biggest differance between the two is the price around $200 differance, other than that they seem pretty much the same.anyone anything to do with either?

Re: Can't decide
I have had mine for about 3weeks. I have had a good play but only loaded 150 223rem with 2206H.blowemup wrote: I bought a RCBS charge master a few months back & its made reloading so much faster...just throws a few over now & then with 2208 but a Mcdonalds straw is apparently a quick fix.... good unit though.
While playing i found a Macca's straw, stuff it in the end and cut it off (otherwise it would cover the powder pickup).
This is where it got funny (messy). I tried my 270win load with 2209 (57gr).
At about 20gr the straw worked loose (it isn't a tight fit) and slipped far enough to miss the pan and ended up all over the table and floor before i got it to stop.
The thread in the end isn't the best for dropping granule at a time it thens to back up then dump a few at a time.
I did a TUNE UP of the programming from a tutorial on AHN and it throws faster and goes from the fastest speed down to the slowest fast and has only .2-.5gr to go at that speed.
Really sped things up.
I got my one from Natchez Shooting Supplies in the US. They had/have them on special and worked out to be just around the $400AU landed. Then you need a 240vac to 9vdc wall pack, Dicksmith has them for $20. You should be able to have it going for $440 at most.
Re: Can't decide

Re: Can't decide
i know someone who brought two rcbs measures from the states, one of them worked fine, the other had to go back, the replacement they sent was also faulty, the 3rd one works fine, electronic scales don't travel well, if you buy local you'll avoid some expensive postage for any warranty claims
also steer clear of the lyman

While that is generally the case if you email RCBS directly not the retailer they will send a replacement direct after you send a photo of the faulty unit destroyed (seen happen it on AHN twice).Steve 2141 wrote:i know someone who brought two rcbs measures from the states, one of them worked fine, the other had to go back, the replacement they sent was also faulty, the 3rd one works fine, electronic scales don't travel well, if you buy local you'll avoid some expensive postage for any warranty claims
